ATRIA MEMORY CARE

Person-centered memory care

No two people are the same – and no two days are the same when you live with dementia. At Atria, specially trained staff learn about a resident’s background and symptoms so they can tailor their approach to each individual, in every moment.

Dementia is difficult – not defining

A dementia diagnosis comes with challenges, but it doesn’t have to define your family member. Living among peers gives those experiencing cognitive decline the freedom to live a fuller life – while you live with the peace of mind that they are safe and supported, 24/7.

Designed for well-being

Every aspect of the memory care community supports people living with dementia. Examples include:

  • Secure common spaces that allow free and safe movement.
  • Natural light, which promotes a healthy circadian rhythm.
  • An intimate dining room that encourages connection.
  • Personal mementos to help residents locate their apartment.

Studies show that this holistic design approach improves mood, reduces agitation and mitigates the need for medications.

Frequently asked questions

Navigating care for someone with cognitive decline can be overwhelming. Browse our FAQ to learn more about memory care – and to see if it’s the right fit for your family.

Memory care is a specialized form of residential care tailored to meet the needs of individuals with memory loss and neurocognitive diseases, including 24-hour supervision and assistance with activities of daily living. The primary goal of Atria’s memory care neighborhood is to provide a safe, structured environment that minimizes stress and confusion for residents. We provide 24-hour care in a secure setting that allows residents to live a full life.

The cost of memory care varies based on factors like amenities, apartment type and location. Find a community near you to view memory care rates.

The primary differences between assisted living and memory care communities are the level of care and security of the environment. Assisted living, while also providing personal care and support, caters to a broader range of seniors who require less intensive support. Memory care neighborhoods often have enhanced security features to prevent wandering, a common behavior for those experiencing cognitive decline. Memory care neighborhoods also offer a variety of programs dedicated to the needs of those experiencing cognitive decline.

Many Atria communities offer both assisted living and memory care, which can help ease the transition when a resident requires additional support.

We give residents opportunities to engage in the types of activities they enjoy. We typically offer the same programs that are offered in independent and assisted living, and adapt those to be more accessible to those experiencing cognitive decline.

Also, because we also manage symptoms of dementia through multi-sensory programs and are mindful of memory loss, we offer more frequent and a broader range of programs than we do in assisted living settings.
